Orthopedics – Traumatology represents the surgical specialty that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal system disorders (bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons) by using medical, surgical and physical procedures.
In Orthopedics – Traumatology, an accuracy diagnosis is required prior to establishing any medical intervention. Currently, the investigation begins with laboratory analysis (evaluation of phospho-calcic metabolism, uric acid, etc.) and radiological examinations (fracture detection, arthrosis).
The paraclinical explorations palette can be augmented by adding the articular puncture and articular fluid examination (in septic arthritis, gout), osteodensitometry (osteoporosis identification), nuclear magnetic resonance (trauma, evidence of lesions of soft tissues, ligaments and muscles), computed tomography (visualizing muscles, blood vessels and bone density).
